Presidents Platform 22nd March
22 Mar 2021 by Christopher Corry
Hi all
19th Hole Sunday March 21st
Sunday’s 19th hole was a first for the club inasmuch (I am advised) that it was the first time that the golf club has held the 19th hole celebrations at the place of the club’s inception, the Harp Hotel. From my perspective, I believe it worked well, the ambience was good, the food was good and the beer was cold enough for us to mourn some of our poor performances of the morning’s golf in that persistent drizzle. A big thank you to Peter Croft and the staff at the hotel for looking after us that afternoon. As an FYI, we have booked the Harp for 19th hole on April 11th and May 2nd when again, we will be unable to use our club rooms due Camberwell GC hosting Pennant.
The drinks consumed on Friday were all on a tab. I will send out a separate note (email/SMS) to members who accumulated a drinks bill. Please pay direct to the club account with an appropriate reference.
The Meat Tray Raffle
As mentioned last week, the club has been offered the opportunity to continue with the Meat Tray raffle for another 5 to 6 weeks. As the money raised in the raffle goes into the club account for the benefit of all members it would be ideal if we could get a few more members selling the raffle tickets on the Friday nights – it only takes about an hour (5:30-6:30) and the punters are always ready to buy a ticket. If we do not get the volunteers we may have to forfeit the opportunity.
Easter Raffle Thursday 1st April
The Harp Hotel through Peter Croft has generously donated an Easter Hamper to be raffled along with the usual meat tray and 3 or 4 other prizes at the pub on Easter Thursday (April 1st). It would be terrific to see as many members as possible at the pub on that evening to support the raffle and show appreciation of the generosity of the Hotel.
Cheers
Chris
